called to serve

“Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”  I John 3:18

We have been so blessed at Mt. Auburn! It’s time for all of us, regardless of age or ability to bless others with our mission service. There is great need in our community and we are going to take a week to make our world a better place by being the hands and feet of Christ.  This comes at a perfect time because service is an integral part of our Life Groups.

We distributed a flyer on Sunday describing the volunteer activities. See these opportunities below.

We will register volunteers Sunday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 3. Be sure and sign up...you will be blessed!

Volunteer opportunities during the week of Oct. 9-16, 2010

  1. KIDS AGAINST HUNGER (Community Room, Mt. Auburn)
This is a fun, assembly project for ages 8-88. We’ll have a room filled with raw materials to
assemble dry meal packets. The goal of KAH is to significantly reduce the number of hungry
children in the USA and to feed starving children throughout the world.

  2. SERVING THE HOMELESS (Downtown)
Serving breakfast and sharing the Word with the homeless in downtown Indianapolis.

  3. CONSTRUCTION AT LORD’S LOCKER (Lord’s Locker, Trafalgar)
Framing, roofing, staining and masonry work are all needed to maintain the Lord’s Locker building.

  4. PAINTING AT THE PANTRY (InterChurch Food Pantry, Franklin)
The InterChurch Food Pantry needs our help to paint four rooms in their facility.

  5. FILLING THE NEED AT FLETCHER (Fountain Square Area)
The whole week, Fletcher Place needs our help with sorting clothing, filling food pantry orders and
    general help around the building.

  6. SERVING A SOLDIER IN NEED (Center Grove)
This family needs our help! Two tours of duty and illness have derailed this family’s home repairs.
Help them solve drainage problems in their backyard.

  7. LOVING OUR WIDOWS (Greenwood)
We’re called to serve widows in our community. This will involve doing whatever they need us to
do whether it be housework or landscape help.

  8. PUTTING OUR BEST FOOT FORWARD (Mt. Auburn)
We are here for those who have not yet visited Mt. Auburn, so we need volunteers to help with
painting, cleaning and various projects around the church.

  9. PRESERVING OUR HISTORY (Mt. Auburn)
You know how your pictures can pile up, so imagine how many pictures need to be organized for
the church. This is a great sit down job that will be greatly appreciated by future generations.
