Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church is no newcomer to this growing community.  We have been here faithfully serving through thick and thin for over 180 years.  Our roots are deep and our commitment is long-lasting.

The roots of the congregation today can be traced back to a few Methodists in the vicinity who began worshiping together about 1826.  Around 1835 the members of this group erected a small frame building near where the entrance to Royal Oak Country Club stands today.  The walls of this building were made of mud, and it was familiarly known as the “old mud schoolhouse.”

By 1900 it was decided to build a new church and Mt. Auburn was moved to Stones Crossing – across the street from the present location on Stones Crossing Rd. and about where the entrance to the Marsh supermarket is today.

In 1966 the congregation purchased 14 and ½ acres and built the first unit in our present location.  Through the years additions were built to provide the space needed for growth, and then on March 10, 1986 a tornado destroyed much of that facility.  The people of Mt. Auburn rebuilt, and our present building was consecrated on April 26, 1987 .

From humble beginnings, through discouragements of every kind, and the momentary setbacks of nature – the Mt. Auburn congregation has always, through our commitment to Jesus Christ, found the courage, strength, resourcefulness, and faith to overcome.

Today, Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church is a vibrant congregation daring to dream God’s dreams and to plan for an even greater future.  Through the years and ministering from three different locations in the community, one thing has remained constant – we are committed irrevocably to a loving God who calls us to serve.

We are here for you!  Welcome!
Sunday School
Our Sunday School classes provide a great opportunity for Bible study and small group fellowship. We offer Sunday School classes for all ages during all three of our services, and believe this ministry to be essential to the life of our church.

Small Groups
Small Groups are similar to Sunday School classes. One bonus to small groups is that they allow for a more casual opportunity for fellowship, as most groups meet in homes or for breakfast at local restaurants. Our small groups are tailored to adults.

Women's Ministry
The Women's Ministry of Mt. Auburn is devoted to seeing the women of the church become connected to God and one another through small group Bible study, conferences, and fellowship events.

Men's Ministry
The Men's Ministry of Mt. Auburn is devoted to seeing the men of the church become connected to God and one another through small group Bible study, conferences, and fellowship events.

Sports Ministry
One bonus to the Men's Ministry is our growing sports ministry. We offer several basketball, softball and flag football teams during the year.

Music Ministry
If you are a musician, this is the church for you. We offer opportunities to serve in the choir, orchestra, hand bells, and the band.

Youth Ministry
Mt. Auburn is committed to seeing our youth grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Every Sunday evening at 4:00 PM the youth in grades 7-12 participate in Bible study, music, fellowship, and a host of other activities. The youth also participate in events throughout the yeat, including a ski trip and different mission opportunities.

Club 56
Club 56 is especially for those youth in 5th and 6th grades. We wanted something special for the youth in this age group, as they tend to get lost in the shuffle between elementary school and high school. This group meets together on Sundays and once a month for fellowship, fun, and possible service projects.

Children's Ministry
The Children's Ministry of Mt. Auburn is a thriving ministry working to see children of all ages develop a relationship with Jesus Christ. This is accomplished through our Sunday School program during the 9:45 service, our praise church hour during the 11:15 service, and though a host of other activities including Vacation Bible School, Breakfast with St. Nick, and an Easter Egg Hunt.
The Programs of the Church Mt. Auburn desires to see men, women and children grow in their relationship with God and one another. We believe the programs below work to accomplish these goals. (Matthew 28:18-20) Welcome
